Sándor Gurbai
Sandor Gurbai joined MDAC in May 2010 as Legal Officer for MDAC’s legal capacity project.
Sandor holds an MA in Law and Political Sciences from Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Hungary. Since 2008, he has been working on his Ph.D on the discrimination of people with disabilities placed under guardianship.
Before joining MDAC, Sandor worked as a legal officer for the Hungarian Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and the Hungarian Parliamentary Commissioner for Civil Rights. He also worked with and for people with intellectual disabilities as a support person in Hungary, France and Zimbabwe.
Sandor has three children.
Sandor is responsible for MDAC’s work related to Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which urges States Parties to take steps to reduce substituted decision-making and introduce supported decision-making and other alternatives to adult guardianship.
